Interesting…

I was just offered a ‘new job’ within my group at work. In fact this job is so ‘new’ that it doesn’t even exist. They don’t really know what I’ll be doing, or for how long. They just know that I will have more responsibilities, and my stuff will now go straight to the VP’s and CEO fro review. Pretty damn smart of them to make sure I’ll be thrown under the bus first damn cool of a jump for the receptionist/Admin, don’cha think?

And this could or could not be temporary. It all depends on how much shit I can get done for them for practically nothing I like it.

And there is no guarantee that with all the new responsibilities and the like that there will be remuneration** of any kind, nor will there be a new title. They just ‘don’t know.’

So I ask you. Would you stop your job search and stay with a company who:

A) has you work under a boss who makes several historical people look wonderful in comparison?

B) is opening several new facilities, but has absolutely no intention of increasing the number of its Facilities and Support Staff? (Meaning not only would you be working your ass off for the PhD’d idiots who can’t use a fax machine at your office, you’ll also be dealing with the ones two states away. And absence dulls nothing when it comes to these people.)

C) is more than ok to try to treat you like some moron who doesn’t know THAT WHEN YOU HAVE TO DO MORE SHIT THAN YOU ALREADY DO — which just happens to be two jobs, that they combined into one for the sake of funding — THEN YOU SHOULD GET SOME MORE DAMN MONEY OUT OF IT!?

hmm… What’s a girl to do?

Probably not a good idea to borrow this from a law school, is it?

Oh yeah! Convince myself that I need to go to grad school do to something with my useless Philosophy degree. And convince my parents to pay for it. Sounds like a GOOD plan to me. :)

**I can’t spell.  And it depresses me.

If I’ve learned anything in grad school, and it’s pretty clear I haven’t, it would be that you get the exact same jobs with double the money owed. So I can’t recommend that as a path, unless it makes you so destitute you’re willing to accept drinks from me.

this is the oddest ‘hard to get’ stratagey that I’ve ever come across… But it does make gradschool look more inviting by the second.
